The students on The Robotics Team are incredibly dedicated and hardworking. The robotics team offers opportunities for students to engage in hands-on skills such as manufacturing, computer programming, and engineering, as well as fundraising and community outreach experiences.
Throughout the year, the students spend hundreds of hours designing, building, and programming the robot for competition.
Over 60% of our students come from economically-disadvantaged backgrounds.
Many of the students have very little mechanical or engineering experience when they join the team, so it is fundamental that they have proper tools and support right away.
My Project
FIRST robotics FRC Team engages students in the ultimate project-based STEM experience. Students develop and apply skills in math, computer science, physics, and engineering, as well as participating in public relations, budgeting and finance, and community outreach. Since 2014, the team has seen consistent growth in the size and commitment of our team and our achievement at the First Robotics Competition.
We are part of an urban, public school and are committed to creating an equitable and non-cost prohibitive program for our students.
The iPad is used as a mobile research station, where students can watch tutorials, view product schematics, and log workflow progress. The large screen means that students can work collaboratively and rely less on smartphone access.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
