My Students

My first grade students are part of an integrated classroom that celebrates all of their special needs, gifts and talents. As a class, they come together from many different cultures, languages and abilities. They all work hard and love to be challenged. However, sometimes they need help meeting these challenges.

Every child can succeed; sometimes they just need different tools to help them on their journey!

My classroom is a happy place where all students believe that they are able to succeed and that they are supported both in and out of school. School is a place where we work hard and persevere through challenges. We work in large groups, small groups, partnerships and individually throughout the day.

My Project

We would love to have an iPad for our classroom! iPads can be used to create interactive and engaging financial literacy for my firsties in many ways. These educational games help students build number sense, financial literacy, and place value.

Students are able to learn real-world financial literacy, math, money and social skills from these fun, hands-on and interactive games.

The opportunities provided by the interactive apps available on the iPad are endless! Some of the available financial literacy apps include number games which help students be able to develop basic number sense as well as practice following directions. The Osmo pizza game is a great way to practice coin recognition, counting money, and making change. There are also apps available which allow students to practice addition and subtraction!

These fun, interactive and educational games would be a great addition to my classroom!
