Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from an inner city neighborhood in Houston Texas. They are some of the most hard-working students I've ever had. They like challenges and are always willing to go the extra mile to learn something new.
My students have hope for a better future for themselves and their families.
Most of my students are first generation immigrants that are learning how to balance their family culture with the US culture. They are sons and daughters of immigrants from Central and South America and have a great spirit of wanting to achieve a better life.
My students are happy to share with their parents their progress and their accomplishments and I have created this project to allow them to do that from the classroom.
My Project
My goal as an educator is to inspire students and to give them ownership over their learning. One of the ways our class would like to do that is by letting students create digital portfolios of their work.
I would love to get a shared iPad for my classroom so that we can use ClassDojo’s new student-led portfolios!
Our students will be able to add photos and videos of their work, such as presentations and science experiments! Students get to proudly show off their work and share it instantly with their parents. Learning doesn’t stop when we leave the classroom, and letting students create their own portfolios will help them continue that learning with parents at home.
I'm so excited to be able to bring this opportunity to my students. Thank you for your support.
