Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work at a Title I school. If you do not know what that means it means that a high percentage of the students that attend my school come from low-income or high need families. We have 100% free breakfast and lunch for the kids. I want to make sure that our students are meeting the challenging state academic standards and working their hardest no matter what the format of learning is. With distance learning, everything is so much different, and the level of motivation is dwindling. The slightest problem can lose my students' focus for the whole day. My students are amazing. I am very proud of how far they have come during distance learning. But...
Since I am working from home, technology is hard and I lose students during lessons because of all the issues.
My Project
Having to use my school-issued Elmo for math and showing my writing is rough. It is not very compatible with Google Meet and I am always trying to reset it during live lessons online. Sometimes the Elmo will have a glare and they can't read what I wrote or sometimes it won't work at all so I am trying to show the kids what I wrote in my camera.
With that, many of my kids are losing focus during my lessons. I have seen many teachers using iPads as a whiteboard to show work and when connected to the laptop, it will show perfectly.
That. Is. Awesome! I want to be able to do that, so it is much easier to see the work for my kids. With an iPad, I can make sure that my kids can see everything very clear on the Google Meet.
Distance learning isn't going to end anytime soon. Please help me give my kids a clearer view of their learning!
