Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Today, it seems like everyone has an iPad and knows how to use it. Unfortunately, my students do NOT have this opportunity. They will not have the experience to research important topics about diversity and civil rights like other fortunate students. I want them to keep up with our diverse country.

My students come from a lower socio-economic demographic, and many do not speak English at home.

Most of the students qualify for a free lunch, have limited resources at home, and stay at school until the early evening because of their hard working parents who are trying to make it. Our school does its best to inspire the kids and bring the curriculum to life. But the challenges of limited budgets and language barriers make that mission difficult.

My Project

It is crucial in today's world to incorporate technology into every classroom, especially because my students do not have it at home. An iPad 3 will help my students learn about diversity through state-of-the-art technology. My students will have quick access to the world by using the iPad to research, understand, and write reports about civil rights and diversity. They will learn how to download books and videos on these important topics. They will also learn how to use the Internet to research various civil rights leaders. When children have access to a variety of references, they will be able to write better reports. The iPad 3 will also be used by my students to record their parents in an interview about their experiences with diversity and civil rights.

With an iPad 3, my students will learn how to edit their video so that they can then share it with the class.

This will make them more tech savvy like kids who have access to technology at home. There are endless opportunities for students to learn on the iPad 3. Please let my students catch up to the rest of the country with technology and be prepared for the future.
