Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students have come from many different parts of the world including Ecuador, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and the United States. They come with tenacity, creativity, and a wide variety of experiences and gifts. We work hard every day as scholars, artists, critical thinkers, and friends.
At our school, 96% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and 92% of the students are students of color.
The majority of my students are learning English as a second or third language. These students have the capacity to achieve greatness.
My Project
My students are eager students. They want to grasp the concepts that we tackle in class. However, tackling concepts without sufficient supplies is a real challenge. We need an iPad with bluetooth capabilities to really take charge of our learning. The Donors Choose community has been so generous (thank you!) and we have received OSMO, Beasts of Balance and an interactive globe this year. We are enjoying our new materials very much, but on a borrowed iPad. Every week we have to re-ask for the iPad so that we can use our new materials. It would be much more convenient if we had our own.
My 5th graders are the engineers, pilots, dentists and architects of the future.
They need to understand the concepts and facts that we cover in our classroom. This iPad is just the ticket. Thank you for considering this project.
