iPad Excitement for Fantastic First Graders

My students need iPads to explore literacy and math through technology to help prepare them as 21st century learners.

My Students

I love it when my students say, "Daddy, what do we ...sorry, I mean Mr. A. ..." I tell the kids that while they are at school, I am like their dad. I want the best for them, and I want to see how much I can help them grow before getting to 2nd grade. I have 4 sons of my own and count it as a compliment any time a child calls me daddy. My kids at school make up a fantastic class. Each one has their own personality, talents, strengths, and needs. I try to use everything I have to help them grow, but the struggle is always finding what I need to help each individual, as well as the class, to grow as much as possible.

Every child has the potential to be successful.

The trick is finding the right tools to get them there.

My Project

First graders need a strong foundation in literacy and math to succeed in school. Budget cuts in public education leave educators with an extreme challenge to meet these necessities. Funds for technology dwindle while the excitement children have for it grows.

If technology can create excitement for our children to learn, then we must find a way to utilize it.

There are fantastic apps for phonics, sight words, reading fluency and comprehension, as well as math tools for number sense, fact fluency, and addition and subtraction. Students just need iPads in their hands to access it.

Help our students to not just meet goals but to excel.
