Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A typical day in my self-contained classroom is active, energetic, and unpredictable. My students are full of endless inquiry and curiosity, and I'd love for them to have opportunities be build upon these natural interests!
My students are in a classroom community of 11, and it is always busy and bustling.
They are active in mind, body, and thought, and the integration of technology will be an amazing learning opportunity for us! My kids come in with some daily baggage, and deserve a setting that allows them to explore and inquire. All of my students have Individualized Education Plans, and an array of learning needs and preferences. The best part about my job is finding new ways to create materials and adapt tasks in ways that truly inspire and reach their unique needs. This year, many of my kids have finally gotten the small setting their minds have yearned for, and it has been a humongous learning experience for all of us. My students often struggle to grasp basic and complex tasks, and are yearning to feel successful and supported in their academic conquests. Creating a welcoming and fully-engaging technological environment will provide my students with amazing tools to expand their learning
My Project
We are ecstatic to have just gotten a project funded for 3 new iPads, in addition to mine! My students need 3 iPad screen protectors and 5 keyboard cases to keep our new iPads clean, durable, and fully-usable for 2nd grade hands! With screen covers, we can keep the iPads from getting dirty, keep ourselves healthy and clean, and ensure our iPads are protected. Cases with keyboards can also transform our iPads into word-processing machines. Since we have very little computer access for students, my kids can begin building skills that will support them academically now, and professionally later. Students will be able to learn and practice typing, word process their writing pieces, gather internet research, and gain comfort within a growing world of technology. My students have very little access to technology at home, and will be able to find new joys in learning. Within our specialized classroom, we have some flexibility in really catering our learning and materials to our special needs. With the use of these technological supports, my students will be immersed into a whole new realm of engaging and global learning.
