Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The challenges that our students face are numerous! But we can make positive impacts on their daily lives while they are at school. We still have students who can not afford to purchase school supplies/books.
Every student in our fifth grade class comes prepared each morning to tackle the day.
It is important to know that we are all one team and that we can find a way to get them involved in reading, math, social studies, the environment, music, art, and history. With the help of Disney's Planet Challenge, we will be able to introduce modern technology to these students. They will be able to become "hands-on" with new ways to read and study about our earth and its changes. And they will be able to use the iPad to continue helping their quest to learn about recycling, our endangered wildlife, and our changing world. The iPad will allow these students an opportunity to use the educational "APPS". By using the APPS and the e-reader, we will cut down on paper use. This is a beginning way to have each student make an impact in school and then take it home. They can take their "hands-on" achievements back out into the world and show others how we can make simple impacts on our earth.
My Project
What type of activities will an iPad allow the students to do? There are numerous pages of educational apps that can be used to bring their education alive in a new way. These apps can be used to help the students improve their handwriting, as well as help them on the journey they have with the Disney's Planet Challenge. Each student will discover that they can eliminate the need for purchasing multiple copies of books. All we need is the e-reader and the access to the on line books. All of this will make positive changes to every aspect of their lives.
This project is really important to our classes education.
It will allow us to grab each student's attention by introducing them to new ways of receiving their curriculum! Your donation can, and will, make a difference on each and every fifth grader in our class.
