I teach 3rd and 4th grade special education in Norfolk, VA.
My students live in an urban area and typically come from low socioeconomic backgrounds.
My students work hard to overcome obstacles every day, but they push through and always persevere. I am so proud of their hard work and the progress they make.
My Project
It's no secret that children love technology! It is stimulating to them and keeps them engaged. Although, after this year, they may never want to use it again! The students love using iPads and computer-based programs to learn. That is why I want to add an iPad and Osmo to our reading centers. Several other teachers have created projects for these in our building, and I was inspired by them.
The iPad and Osmo set in this project will allow my students to bring their learning to life.
Osmo actively engages children in the learning process by combining tactile exploration with technology. Whether a child is a music lover, bookworm, or aspiring mathematician, Osmo has a game for them. What I especially love about this program is that it is able to reach students on a wide range of levels. Some of my students may be learning their sight words, while others need practice with higher level skills. Osmo is able to meet the needs of so many using one program.
