iPad Accessories for Students with Special Needs

My students need accessories for their iPads. They need iPad cases, a classroom power surge, and headphone splitter cables.

My Students

My students are all special needs children. They are in the 7th and 8th grade, they are all functioning on a K to 1st grade level in academics. My students love to learn using technology. They don't always learn what is taught via talk and learn, but put a computer by them and it helps them learn.

Skills are introduced on a daily basis with constant repetition.

Sometimes some of my students understand what is being instructed but cannot apply the skills learned or taught. With the use of technology, some of these skills are easier learned. My students come from the highest poverty level in Brooklyn and cannot afford these technology tools in their home life. Through the school technology cluster, they enjoy using what technology we have and seem to learn more when they are using hands-on learning. My students love to learn through technology, when you put a computer in front of them they become animated. They learn best when skills are of interest to them.

My Project

I just received funded for iPads and did not add cases for them. I feel that with my students I need protective cases that will allow my students can carry them with on field trips. I also need headphone splitters as there were only 6 iPads funded and I have 12 students. With the Headphone splitters my students will be able to share an iPad between them.

The materials from this project will make a difference because it will allow my students to use the iPads without me being afraid of them being ruined or damaged.

iPad cases that have a handle on them will also allow for the iPads to be taken outside of the classroom.
