My students are diverse and come from all over the world!
They are learning English as a new language as well as adapting to their new environment!
They are engaged in the process and a joy to teach. My school is a wonderful community of teachers and students. Though our school is great, it comes with challenges as a Title I school. We struggle to meet the needs of our students, because of the lack of rigorous, innovative, and fun items in the classroom, which would engage students and encourage learning!
My Project
My kindergarteners and first graders need an iPad to help them learn and master their oral language skills. Many of my students who are new to the country are reluctant to speak. They are either shy or are afraid to talk out loud to their friends and adults.
It empowers kids to create and demonstrate learning.
The iPad will allow them to use Chatterpix. This program will give them an avenue to take a picture and record their own voice reducing the anxiety that comes with talking in front of others.
