iPad 2 + 5th Grade Students = A New Level of Learning!
My students need an iPad 2 to integrate Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, Science & Technology! An iPad 2 will bring our class to a new level of learning & excitement!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
An iPad in the classroom?!?! YES!! In our ever-changing world, technology is taking over and my students are a part this technological generation. When they can get on a computer or an iPod, they work harder and more efficiently. An iPad is a perfect addition to our classroom to motivate students!
Our school is a school with over 95% of the student population that are living at the poverty level.
Our students do NOT let this define them. Instead, they use this label to DRIVE them. They are hard-working, intelligent children who WANT to succeed and are willing to do whatever it takes to do so! Many of our students don't receive support from home and lack the technological tools that many of us take for granted; however, they are quick learners and have figured out how to maneuver their way around computers, iPods and even Nooks. These tools are preparing them for the future and getting them ready to become the successful adults that I believe they can be.
My Project
I am requesting and iPad 2 and a cover. While this may seem like a lofty request, I have done a lot research and discovered that an iPad 2 is an excellent educational resource. I will be using the iPad in several different ways. For example, there are a WEALTH of math games and apps on the iPad. These would be great to use in math centers or during partner or small group time. The apps can be used to accelerate learners who are ahead of their classmates or they can be used for students who need remediation.
In addition to math apps, we can use the iPad to record students reading or performing a Social Studies rap. Playing calming music on the iPad will allow students to feel less stress during tests, assignments or activities. We can use it to research projects and learn more about the world around us.
There are so many ways to use this educational tool. I believe this iPad will motivate and encourage my students to continue working hard and put forth their best effort!
