My Students
My students live in lower socioeconomic neighborhoods that require support and resources for learning. One of the biggest challenges my families face is the ability to provide basic necessities for their children.
By providing resources during case conferences will help ensure a smoother meeting to best support each student with a disability.
A large percentage of our students live in multi-family member homes, foster homes, other family members and friends' homes, and hotels/motels. These students and families may not have the financial freedoms to provide extra resources above and beyond what is in the school already. By helping provide items during case conferences, this will help meetings run more smoothly to ensure students are receiving the services required for their education.
My Project
Each year we have at least one case conference with each parent to ensure that all students are provided their support in the classroom to help with the most success while in school. These meetings can be up to two hours long. During the meetings, parents and school staff work together to make sure students with disabilities are getting what they need during the school for the best education.

During these meetings parents, students, and staff need to feel welcomed and invited, as well as have a place to share concerns to know what the student needs to be successful. By helping provide snacks, drinks, and food during the conferences, this will help create an inviting conference room for all members to seek out what is best for each individual child.
These snacks will help the student during the conference to curb their appetite and share their concerns. Student input in their plan for education is the most important. The inviting case conference will help students share their needs.
