This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach a few self-contained special education classes, which can be challenging at times. My students like to move around a lot and need a lot of probing to get the work done. At times, I have to allow students to sit in a cool down area when they get upset at their peers. I want to create a community classroom area with mobile desks and an ottoman for storage, where students can sit when they need a time to themselves.
Students need a designated area to cool off and self-regulate their emotions while still producing work.
The mobile desk and ottoman will give them an opportunity to move around and still be productive.
