My students need to Insectigate! They need a butterfly farm, butterfly life-cycle books and dominoes to put together the life-cycle of insects. Let's investigate!
Be a child again, chasing a butterfly, trying to see the colors on wings...watching a butterfly land on a flower and being amazed at it's grace.
My students love to investigate and observe changes in life.
I have a very inquisitive and investigative group of Kindergarten students who are eager to watch and write about the life cycle of a butterfly in their Science Journals. My students, all 24 of them, attend a public school in Arizona. Living in the desert, we do see quite a bit of reptile animal life. Spring is here and we want to observe the life cycle of butterflies.
I am requesting a butterfly farm, a coupon to send for butterfly larvae, books to read about the life cycle of a butterfly, templates for my students to trace and learn about the butterfly habitat and a set of butterfly dominoes, for higher level thinking, after learning about the life cycle of a butterfly.
You can make a difference in the wonder of a child watching the metamorphosis of an insect we all love and chased as children.
Children today are not at liberty to be out in nature as life today has changed for our little ones. This project will enable my students to observe and record the changes that a butterfly goes through in the classroom. After we raise the butterflies, we will have a "setting free celebration" of the butterflies that were raised and nurtured by my students.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
