My Students
My class is filled with some of the most eager learners in first grade. Most of the children that sit in my classroom on a daily basis, with such bright smiles and infectious loving personalities, are immersed in a life that leaves no room for support or hope for excellence.
My students are full of energy, compassion, and enthusiasm for learning and desire to be heard, loved, and given confidence.
Many are exuberant and passionate, while the remainder of them are quiet and introverted. They love to please and desire to succeed. In order for them to continue their journey to success they need a few more resources at their fingertips that will help provide them with more knowledge of the financial world and how this can better their lives!
My Project
The mentor text titles and game included in this project will provide the students in my classroom with the understanding basics of how the financial world affects them directly. Both nonfiction and fiction texts will be used to provide real-life examples, along with scenarios of how money can be earned, counted, and saved to positively affect our lives.
My students will engross themselves into the texts and game to discover how to confidently become better financial wizards.
The students will be provided this opportunity through shared read-aloud that will include hands-on activities, such as counting money, to follow; small group literature circle discussions that will allow them to connect to how they are affected in the real world, such as how to earn and save their earnings; and/or through independent center work activities that will have them discover and expand their knowledge of money. The students in my classroom will unmistakably learn needed basics to enhance their understanding on such a crucial topic that they desperately need to ensure a more sustainable way of living for their future.
