Investing in Flexible Seating: a Lesson in Economics
Help me give my students colorful ball chairs for more flexible seating options.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Nicole's classroom raised $389

My Project
My students are curious, energetic learners who thrive in an environment that allows movement and choice. In our classroom, flexible seating is more than just a comfort—it’s a tool that helps students stay engaged and focused while learning. Among all our seating options, ball chairs are the most sought-after. Unfortunately, after years of use, one of the two chairs has worn out. To meet student demand, I am requesting two new ball chairs in different colors, which will give students more choices while teaching an important lesson about supply and demand.
This project will provide two new ball chairs, ensuring that all students have access to seating that meets their needs.
Flexible seating encourages responsibility, as students must make choices that help them work efficiently—an important financial literacy concept. Just as consumers in the real world must make smart financial decisions, my students must evaluate which seating option is the best investment in their productivity.
Additionally, our classroom economy system teaches students how to manage “classroom dollars” earned through positive behavior and academic achievements. Students must budget their earnings to “rent” preferred seating, reinforcing key economic principles like supply and demand, opportunity cost, and wise spending. By offering two different-colored ball chairs, we are adding variety and allowing students to experience firsthand how consumer preferences influence the market.
By funding this project, you are not only improving student comfort and engagement but also supporting real-world financial literacy skills. Students will experience firsthand how limited resources impact choices—an essential economic lesson that will benefit them beyond the classroom!
