My students need Famous Inventors Problem Solving STEM kits to fully engage with STEM concepts, learn about inventions, and have opportunities to become excellent problem solvers.
We have a saying in our school: “It’s great to be a student here!” Our rural school combines two communities into one fantastic school district with an eye toward the future. We are working with local businesses to give students an idea of what traits and skills they will need to possess in order to make it in the working world outside of school.
My 4th grade science students are active, curious and super social!
They love to learn through hands-on activities and experiments. They also enjoy opportunities to work with each other to share ideas and help one another understand school concepts.
My Project
Our school district works with local businesses to provide insight into skills needed for employment after high school. Two traits they have told us they are looking for in their employees are critical thinking skills and being able to work with a team.
The Famous Inventor Problem Solving STEM kits will allow students to use their creativity and problem-solving skills to build and test famous inventions while learning the processes used by Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, and Samuel Morse.
Because 4th graders are naturally social, I plan to incorporate a group work aspect which will allow students to work together and learn from each other.
The Famous Inventors STEM kits will enable my fourth graders to learn about the famous inventors and develop their STEM proficiency while reinforcing their natural social skills.
