Invaluable Professional Development on Technology in Education
I need help covering the cost of registration for the International Society for Technology in Education Conference where I will learn best practices for incorporating technology into my students' learning experiences.
My classroom is filled with diverse students, representing over 15 different cultures. I am constantly learning new things from my students, just as they are learning from me. I have a strong desire to make their learning authentic and deepen their understanding of concepts. Knowing about their culture, language, and/or beliefs helps me connect their learning on a personal level.
Technology helps my students and I explore their countries and cultures from within our classroom.
My students are always eager to learn and love finding similarities and differences between them and their friends. We can find and read books in their native language with technology. We can take virtual field trips to the places they long to visit with technology. We can learn more about one another with technology. I value the diversity that each of my students brings to the classroom and love that we get to work together to become culturally responsive individuals.
My Project
Recently I read an article that described how technology within the classroom allows teachers to develop personalized learning for their students. The article challenged me to reflect on how I am currently utilizing technology and what I can be doing better to enhance my students' learning experiences.
I want to develop invigorating and challenging lessons which reflect a forward thinking use of technology to create optimal learning experiences for each of my students.
I believe attending the four day International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) conference will equip me with the knowledge to reach my goal. The conference includes interactive learning opportunities that will provide me with a deeper understanding of the latest edtech developments. The keynote speakers will guide me towards best practices within the classroom. The conference sessions will equip me with a variety of resources in a hands-on learning environment. I know I will leave the conference confident about my ability to integrate the latest edtech into my lessons to enhance my students' learning.
