My Students

As a teacher in a low income school district, my students, ranging from Kindergarten to 5th grade, face with many learning challenges. Their daily routine is not like their classmates. While each and everyone of them can learn, they must be provided all accommodations that will break their barriers.

Each and every student that enters my classroom becomes my child!

My daily routine teaches students with a range of disabilities including specific learning disabilities, emotional/behavior disorders, autism spectrum disorder, and attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder. Almost all students in my class read/write below grade level and math computational skills are limited. Many of my students require special manipulatives and technology based instruction to meet their needs to learn.

My Project

With school safety on the rise, the Barracuda Intruder Defense System will help keep my students safe in the event of an active shooter situation. The Barracuda is a security device that can be installed in a matter of seconds to protect occupants against building intruders.

While learning is a daily event in my classroom, student SAFETY is my #1 priority!

My students need to know they are safe and secure when they enter my classroom. If I can elimate one of the many barriers that my students face daily, an emergency situation will not be such a traumatic situation for them.
