Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title I school where 95 percent of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Seventy-one percent of our students go home to non-English speaking families. Some of our students are the only English speaking people in their families.
I make it my goal every year to supply my students with the materials they need and hands-on experiences that they wouldn't get elsewhere.
I love it when my students finish an activity and say what a great time they had and how much they learned! Our students are very bright and deserve every opportunity they get!
My Project
My students are just learning to read chapter books. I want to introduce them to some of the easier to read chapter books such as Magic Tree House, Amelia Bedelia, Junie B. Jones, and the Weird School books. I would like several books in each series so I can introduce my students to each series by doing a read a loud of one or two books from each series. They will be hooked and want to continue to read these books are very engaging. The books will be available for students to borrow, read, enjoy, and love.
