Introducing The Book Thief to Creative and Motivated Learners!!
My students need 100 copies of The Book Thief to be able to read both at home and in school. The audiobook would be valuable to the English Language Learners in my class.
I work in a public school that is currently struggling with the most basic needs of our students. I work with highly motivated and excited students in a career and technical education small learning community. They are constantly surprising me with their innovation and creativity in everything that they do.
My students will be working on a cross-curricular project with their English and Film classes.
Through this project, my students will learn how to analyze a story on many different levels, making their experience with the novel to much more enriching.
My Project
My students' film teacher and I are looking forward to introducing "The Book Thief" to our students next year. I will be teaching the novel, focusing on the important historical time period in which it takes place, while their film teacher will be exposing them to the movie and script. They will then take the knowledge that they acquire from the novel and movie, and use it create their own films.
I love this novel and can not wait to introduce it to my students, so that they will find a love for it too!
