Introducing STEM in Early Childhood Education!

Help me give my students one Magnetic Wipe Board, and Lekebaby Classic Building Base Plates so we can build our young STEM students a LEGO wall and Gear Wall for our STEM Lab at school.

My Project

I am a Pre-Kindergarten teacher, and Technology Lead teacher at our Early Childhood Education Center. I am very eager and excited to take on both roles at our school. Our students are very young; however, they are ready to learn, explore and develop their young minds to be our future STEM leaders when they become adults. I am working very hard to collaborate with my staff so we can introduce them to age-appropriate STEM education lessons.

Young children enjoy problem solving, and exploring new ideas using their whole body, and with the proper resources I can give our students an opportunity to explore STEM education that is age and developmentally appropriate.

I was inspired to write this project, because I have observed our students using the limited STEM resources we have in our STEM lab, and I vision a STEM lab that will give our students proper resources so they can learn how to think critically, and support children’s early math development and many other important skills.

We have renamed our STEM area "STEM Central" because it will be the main area where our students will engage in STEM education. The resources in this project will give every student in our school access to STEM while at school.

I am requesting materials to make a LEGO wall so our students can have place to complete STEM challenges during their time in STEM Central. The LEGO Classic Large Creative Brick Box and Baseplates will be used to build the LEGO wall. Additionally, I am requesting Lakeshore Turn & Learn Magnetic Gears, Giant Magnetic Letter and Numbers so our students can have a Gear Wall so they can discover how gears work. I am also requesting cardstock, so we can add STEM themed decorations when we relaunch our STEM Lab.
