This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is located in Concord, California in a low-income community. Students come from diverse backgrounds and cultures and all bring unique aspects to the school. A majority of the students are English Language Learners. About 90% of the students who attend this school receive free or reduced rate lunch.

In my third grade classroom, I will strive to create an inclusive classroom community, which allows each student to feel safe, accepted and needed.

I know students learn best by engaging in hands on activities. Getting resources that allow them to do so will motivate them to work hard, be fully engaged in the content and allow them to develop a love for learning.

My Project

All of my students love to be hands-on while learning and I want to be able to give them that opportunity. I plan on using the easel pad to introduce new math skills. The students will use the dice as a manipulative to increase the students’ knowledge in all areas of math. The students will use the dice inside a dice as a way for fun addition and subtraction games. The students can also use the 10-sided dice for multiplication. Using the hands-on materials will captivate them and make them excited and eager to learn.

The students are so eager to get their hands on any sort of technology, and that’s why I think it’s so important to give them the opportunity.

I want to give my students the chance to practice math skills while using technology. I plan on using the Chromebook during our math center time. I will use the Chomebook in a technology rotation where the students will get to play a variety of different math games.
