Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The items we are requesting will enhance students' critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills while encouraging positive social interaction. Starter decks will allow new players to learn the game in an accessible way. The Tarkir: Dragonstorm Commander Bundle offers pre-built, well-balanced decks that introduce students to deeper strategic play, while the Lost Caverns of Ixalan Commander Bundle provides diverse deck options to maintain variety and replayability. Additionally, storage boxes, play-mats, and card sleeves will keep materials organized and in good condition, ensuring that students have a long-lasting and structured gameplay experience.
Our primary goal is to create a sustainable and engaging MTG space where students can develop social connections, practice structured communication, and enhance decision-making skills.
By providing high-quality decks and materials, we can ensure that students of all experience levels can participate. We aim to build a positive, screen-free environment where students can learn, strategize, and bond through a game that challenges their thinking and fosters teamwork.
Our students are resilient, creative, and full of potential, but they face unique challenges growing up in a low-income community where opportunities for enrichment can be limited. Magic: The Gathering offers them not just a game, but a structured, welcoming space where they can build friendships, develop critical thinking skills, and experience the joy of interactive play. This project will provide them with an inclusive, low-cost way to explore strategy, teamwork, and communication, fostering a sense of belonging in a community that values their growth and success.
