First grade is a place full of energy and excitement for learning! I have a class full of energetic kids who are always ready to explore a new topic and learn. They have an affinity for building, creating, and exploring.
My class consists of 25 caring and creative students.
Of those 25, two are diagnosed with autism, three receive special education services and 6 are in speech. 12 of my 25 students have parents in the military and many of their parents go on short and long term deployments. We are lucky to have such a kind and caring class that supports each other through those changes. They work together to maintain a positive classroom community and an enthusiastic approach to learning.
My Project
This project will ignite creativity and problem solving by giving my students STEAM materials. The Sphero robots serve as an introduction to coding that will help my students build 21st century skills and prepare them for the many STEAM related careers. The 3D Doodlers allow students to bring their creations to life. The 3D pen uses heated plastic that hardens instantly, allowing you to draw in 3D and they are made for kids so they are safe for independent creations.
By giving students futuristic educational tools, they can begin problem solving for the problems of the future.
Coding robots and 3D pens will spark students' interests in STEAM careers and prepare them for their futures.
