My Students
On March 13th, 2020 our students lives changed for the seeable future. We were all unknowing about the type of teaching that we would turn to.
I am a self-contained kindergarten and first grade teacher for a school in South Jamaica, Queens.
Teachers spent months working remotely, and it is continuing to be unknown for all teachers and students. My students come from low-income households that need extra support and supplies to keep the children engaged. My school is still unsure of what the school day will look like. With the supplies, I ask for, despite the setting the students will receive the best education as possible.
My Project
While we are still unsure about what our year will look like, we are still going to need the standard supplies for in-person learning or remote learning. I am in dire of need of some standard supplies for my in-person classroom or my at-home classroom. All of our students are going to be severely affected by this pandemic. Students need a routine and a sense of normalcy while learning. With some of the supplies that will be funded through this project, I can give my class a sense of normalcy as much as possible.
I hope that my students can receive an education that will interact and excite them despite the setting.
Throughout the remote learning last year, my students loved learning through manipulatives, anchor charts, and online forms of their curriculum. With the requested project items, my students will be interactive with the classroom instruction, no matter the setting.
The items that are listed below will benefit every single student in my classroom or at home while learning virtually. I would include all the materials in my everyday instruction. Some of the supplies are as simple as pencils to posters and manipulatives.
The TPT gift card would allow my students to receive digital and physical materials that can be purchased. I buy $100s of resources each year for my students. This gift would allow my students to receive the top resources made by colleagues across the country.
The organization chart and manipulatives are crucial in my student's education. it allows my classroom or my virtual classroom to be organized for all students. A proper educational environment is essential in my student's learning process. Some of the other supplies include cleaning supplies, tablet holders for meetings and dry erase markers. These items may be simple, but they are essential.
