This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are amazing! I teach first and second grade. My students come to school excited and ready to learn. Our school is located in the rural Mississippi Delta. We are a Title I school where 100% of our students receive free lunches. Many of my students come from households that are living at or below the poverty line and lack the exposure to the many different avenues of technology. Being that we lack the resources and funding needed, we lack that same access to technology in the classrooms as well, and I would like to change that.
My Project
We are working to bridge the gap between reading and math by providing enriched interventions through programs such as Study Island, I-Ready, and IXL. We know that in order to to this we must have the needed technology in the classroom to access these programs.
Having the desktop computer will allow my students to be engaged with these programs during their individual intervention time.
During this time they will be able to complete lessons and check their progress. Having access to a desktop will also provide my students with a research center where students are able to search online databases on specific topics.
