This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This is my second year as a teacher and I am proud to be teaching fourth grade again. My virtual classroom is filled with students from all over the world, some who do not speak English. This year has been a challenging one, but the students have not missed a beat, everyday they show how resilient they are. These students deserve quality education regardless of where they are.
I believe in an even playing field, that is why when my students enter my classroom- in person or virtually, I want to make sure that they have all of the resources they need.
Whether it's flexible seating or a diverse library, they should have access to quality education.

My Project
Often times in a classroom, students are not learning at their grade level. The may sit in a classroom but will not comprehend what is being taught because they are not being provided with the correct instructional support. I believe that reading intervention is necessary for these students to progress. Struggling readers will be able to read texts that are on their level and will have the practice needed to move forward.
I am requesting funding for two Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards which will allow me to purchase the necessary intervention program to instruct, progress monitor, and assess each students reading level for years to come.
The intervention program that I would like to receive for my class will include reading fluency, comprehension, word work, and vocabulary. I will also be able to use these resources for my future classes.
