Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I teach first grade at CICS Wrightwood Elementary School. We are a new school just opened this year and we need resources, specifically for our students who are starting to fall behind. We do not have any materials for the lower achieving students. Receiving these benefits would greatly benefit the first graders. They will be given more opportunities to work on things they are struggling in. The subject area that the children need the most help in is reading. I want to make sure that all of my students are reading and reading well. We would need things like work books, take home book bags so that the parents are able to help their children more and leveled reading books. We are trying to get these materials for 12-13 students in first grade. Reading is very important to our futures and I want to make sure that I've done all I can to help my students achieve.
