My Students
There are so many things going on in our world at any time. There's no better way to expand knowledge of the world than learning about international current events. Time For Kids is an amazing magazine that brings interesting, international news right to our classroom.
I teach in a high-need neighborhood of New York.
I am the third grade classroom teacher. Our school is a small, family-oriented school. My students are budding readers and new to the concept of the international world. I'm hoping to truly get them excited about current events, expose them to the diverse world that we live in, continue to increase their reading skills and expand their vocabulary. This will also allow them to start honing their critical thinking and discussion skills in a practical way, as we discuss events of the world.
My Project
I would like each child to receive a classroom subscription to Time for Kids so that we can read about current events regularly and launch writing projects, community service projects, field trips, research projects, etc.
Every classroom has readers at a variety of levels. TFK allows strong readers to expand their knowledge of the world and their vocabulary. For my struggling readers, TFK is natural incentive and it easily motivates them.
I've been using TFK this year and my students are incredibly knowledgeable about the world and different cultures. I think it's a great way to tie in current events and everyone of my students has benefited from the sophisticated topics and language which TFK uses.
We will also use the hands-on map to build their knowledge of geography.
Your generous donation will enable my students to become more knowledgeable about the world, different cultures, and current events that do or will affect them.
It will also enable them to practice their reading and speaking skills using sophisticated and current events language.

After August 15th of current school year, pricing will remain in effect but TIME For Kids reserves the right to prorate issue quantity and free gifts. Only valid for orders in quantities of 10 or more. Orders for less than 10 subscriptions will NOT be fulfilled.
