it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am currently completing a huge project to regroup my library and get rid of the old thinking of leveled libraries and organizing books based on genre or topic. I have noticed that our library is a little out-of-date and geared towards certain interests but does not reach the range of my learners. I want to ensure that I have books that reach a variety of interests. All students should have access to rich texts that allow them to think and grow.
Just think about whether or not you are motivated to read a text that is boring.
Children should have the opportunity to choose rich literature to read that is on topics they are interested in learning about. Learning is directly correlated to motivation. Help students get books that they can't put down!
When we start a love of books at an early age we ensure a future of lifelong learners. Having appropriate texts is just one way to ensure students are motivated and enjoying school. The gift of literacy is the gift that keeps giving for years to come as they are engaging and motivating young learners.
