This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

One of the key goals of our Transitional Kindergarten (TK) learning community is to prepare students for success in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math). We strive for a balance between academic skills based on Common Core standards and social, emotional, and motor skills development based on Early Childhood learning guidelines like the California Preschool Foundations.

We have a very active TK in an urban school district.

My students are primarily English Language Learners. We are part of a fairly high achieving Title I school in a community where most students qualify for free and reduced-price lunch programs. The TK program in California is a great opportunity to bridge the gap between preschool and the Kindergarten academic program.

In addition to academics, the students need to learn social and emotional skills to help them be ready for the rigor in K-12. They also are getting a solid foundation in language arts and math.

My Project

STEAM curriculum, including code and robotics is integrated into our whole day. We move pretty quickly through the full-day program so this interactive digital projector system makes transitions seamless. It has been shown to be very effective in supporting this kind of learning.

Our new interactive projector will be a real focal point in our learning community.

We use Google Classroom and many different apps that need to be shared to groups and the entire class.

This Epson BrightLink 685Wi Interactive 3LCD projector will provide seamless integration we need to reach deep and really make an impact. Our active TK students will appreciate the "wow" factor.
