Our public school system in our urban area has challenged us all with limited resources. The students want to be engaged in a high quality learning environment, but Transitional Kindergarten is relatively new and requires a special set of resources. My students have responded well to the focus we have provided in the curriculum on STEM (Science Tech Engineering and Math). The activities are engaging, with at least an hour per day in language arts learning centers. The district and school have provided a good amount of books and learning activities but we still need materials to support the depth of hands-on activities needed for this new grade level.
