Our little elementary school sits on the corner of the entrance into our rural farming community in southeast Missouri.
The sweet faces of our precious students reflect a desire to learn and excel in life.
Many of our families live below the poverty level, and our students find the promise of success and hope as they enter the campus each morning. Our buildings are full of adults and children eager to work together to make our community and our world a better and brighter place!
My Project
The iPad and headphones we are hoping for would bring a higher level of diverse activities and interactive learning opportunities for the students I serve.
While some of the students in our school have ready access to technology out of school, unfortunately, many of the students we serve with reading intervention do not.
A recent report, "Using Technology to Support At-Risk Students' Learning", states, "because of their students’ lack of access, teachers in high-poverty schools were more than twice likely (56 percent versus 21 percent) to say that their students’ lack of access to technology was a challenge in their classrooms."
We are blessed to have dry erase boards, markers, and various learning games in our small group environment, but we do not have a resource such as an iPad. This iPad would offer individualized lessons, review and practice activities, and reinforcement of reading skills for my students who are desperately in need of such supplies.
