This year, all core subject teachers get to lead a club! I normally run a math remediation group but I chose to support our students that want to learn different languages on Duolingo. Our school unfortunately does not have any foreign language classes so I wanted to set this up for kiddos that wanted to learn something new and different.
I want students to see that there is so much out there in this great big world and different languages is the key to connecting with other countries around the world.
In my club, when a student joins, they will receive a blank (kid version) passport where they will fill out what language/country they are gonna focus on. They will earn stamps and stickers for their passport each time they earn daily streak goals, finish units and other rewards in the app. Being a math teacher, I want each student to learn how to say 1-20 in the language they are studying on the program. I am so excited to see what these students are capable of learning!
