Imagine seeing a book on a full size screen that can be interactive to the touch! My students are most engaged throughout the day when we use the Smartboard! Not a surprise!
Our school opened last year and became a Title I school this year.
We have a large Spanish speaking population with an increased amount of migrant students during certain seasons. My class LOVES technology and would spend the whole day on the computer or Smartboard if I let them. Most of my students do not get technology opportunities at home so I try to provide as many as I can for them while they are at school.
My Project
Not only will the interactive whiteboard readers provide my students with more technology opportunities, but it will help them to become better (and more excited) readers. The non-fiction books have fantastic pictures to help students relate the readings to "real" life. Many of my students have never been to a zoo let alone seen a wild animal up close. During shared reading, we would use the interactive book to practice concepts of print, phonics and sight word recognition with relations to all subjects. During center time, students can explore and re-read the book with a partner and continue to use them during independent reading to further practice reading strategies and skills.
