Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are motivated, hardworking and enthusiastic. They strive to be challenged; nonetheless, they have their struggles to overcome. Their parents struggle to make ends meet and many are further challenged with the additional difficulty of learning English.
My students are enthusiastic English language learners and will go the extra mile to do well in their studies.
These children are always playing a game of catch up with their peers academically. Any extra resources and opportunities we can provide for them will go far in helping them catch up academically.
My Project
I would like to be able to offer struggling students an engaging literacy experience with the use of an iPad. My hope is that this high tech way of reading and studying will provide them an opportunity to use diverse applications to enhance their comprehension and learning. Additionally, students will be able to use online tools to support their reading experience. Ipads offer students opportunities to use applications that can highlight text, bookmark pages and annotate as they read. Students will be able to go online to go on websites like Brainpop, Newsela, Quizlet among many other websites conducive to learning. Our main goal is literacy development and I am confident that using the IPads will be an excellent tool to enhance my students' learning.
Therefore, this iPad will afford my students the ability to be more prepared with the knowledge and information they need in order to participate productively in class.
This tech tool will provide another engaging opportunity to help my students catch up academically with their peers.
