My students need ink, rocket engines and kits, spring scales, and optical bench labs to be able to explore physics concepts in labs and print lab reports.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The only way to truly explore, experience, and learn physics is through labs. These materials will help the students explore and learn the concepts through labs. They will have fun while learning! What's better than that?!
My students are wonderful, smart, and enthusiastic students who want to learn.
Our school is urban, with 95% of the students qualifying for free meals. Most of our students live in poverty and our school district has no money to buy lab equipment. My students want to learn and they deserve to be able to learn using the same activities and labs that students in more affluent communities get to do.
My Project
At the end of the year, I do a rockets activity with my physics students. They apply all of the concepts that they have learned throughout the year to design, build, analyze, and launch model rockets. It is a lot of fun for them and they learn a lot. They see that science is fun and interesting, and many of them go on to major in science or engineering in college. Most of them have never designed or built anything before physics, and most of them have never gotten to build or launch a rocket.
This project is fun, educational, and inspiring. My students also need to explore optics as part of physics so the materials will help them do that. The ink is for a printer that we have so that they can print color project reports to share with the rest of the school. These materials will make physics more educational and fun.
These materials will impact 150 students this year and will also impact next year's 150 students.
These students deserve to be able to learn using these activities and labs, and these materials will help them learn and encourage them to continue studying science. Please help us provide these educational opportunities to these students!
