This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The purpose of an interactive notebook is to enable students to be creative, independent thinkers and writers. Interactive notebooks are used for class notes as well as for other activities where the student will be asked to express his/her own ideas and process the information presented in class.

Our middle school is a diverse high-needs school of about 1,400 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.

Almost 50% qualify for free or reduced rate lunch. Many of our students receive services, including ESL, special education, and academic intervention. Despite the many obstacles my students face, they are hard working, passionate and enthusiastic about learning.

My Project

I would like to incorporate an interactive science notebook into our chemistry class that correlates to my lessons the students will work on through our Google classroom. Not only will students submit assignments through the Google class, they will also be creating the interactive notebook to study and collaborate with their classmates. Using interactive science notebooks requires a lot of materials. We will need notebooks, colored pencils, tape, tape dispensers, and glue sticks to keep their notebooks creatively filled with their thoughts and ideas.

Interactive science notebooks will help my students learn new science concepts in chemistry and creatively take notes in order to study and collaborate with the classmates.

They will be able to connect what they've learned in science to their real lives.
