Interactive Notebooks Help Us Learn

My students need colored paper, ink and glue sticks to build our interactive notebooks.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Rossi's classroom raised $200

This project is fully funded

My Students

"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." I have found that the best way to engage middle school students in note taking is with interactive student notebooks!

At my inner-city Chicago school, 92% of students are low-income.

40% of the students in my classroom are English Language Learners. My 8th graders helped with my interactive student notebook roll out in Mathematics and now all my other classes want to join the fun! They love having carefully crafted notes on colored paper in their notebooks.

My Project

Students will use interactive notebooks in their Reading and Writing instruction. The different colors of paper will correspond to different lessons, such as one color for Literature, another for Informational Texts and another for Grammar. The ink will ensure that we can keep on printing. Without glue sticks, our beautiful notes will be all over the floor. The paper center will keep us organized and encourage students to use the corresponding colored paper to create their own notes.

This project will help engage my diverse learners in note taking as well as building a resource that they can refer to for years to come.

As they cut, fold, flip and write, my students will be able to dig deeper into their English Language Arts concepts.
