This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Last year, was my first year teaching at the School for the Visual Arts and Humanities in the heart of Koreatown. I was lucky enough that the school had left over notebooks last year so l attempted to create an interactive notebook for the class. As a first year teacher, I was not prepared as to what that meant.
I spent this summer perfecting what I want for the students in their interactive notebooks and I feel extremely confident on how their interactive notebooks will support their organization skills in their future classes.
As a 2nd year teacher, my goal for all my students is pass the class but also to learn basic skills such organization, engagement, critical thinking, multiple learning approaches, reviewing material, and personalizing their learning.
All incoming freshmen are required to take my biology class. By setting up my students with at least notebook I can teach students about organizing their thoughts, work on time management, and teach accountability along with the NGSS Biology Curriculum.
