This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach eighty, awesome, different personalities. Our school is one hundred percent free-lunch for our students. Our students come from all walks of life and just want to be able to be successful. Our students strive to come to school daily to get away from disadvantages at home that may cause frustration. School for our students is an outlet and many of them look forward to being in the classroom.
My students motivate me daily to help them change the world.
As a teacher, it is my responsibility to assure all students are engaged and learning while creating a fun, safe and comfortable atmosphere for learning. I have a commitment to my students to provide them a classroom where they will learn best.
My Project
I can't help but imagine the excitement and fun learning can and will be with some new hands on manipulative materials for the students to work with. With plastic coins my students will find counting money a snap as it emulates the real thing. The colorful geo solids will help my students to visualize faces, edges, vertices, and volume in a much more meaningful way. Using the balance students will be able to see the variations in weights and mass of different objects. Hands on fraction manipulatives will allow my students to see real world connections in fractional parts. With all of these materials, my classroom will come alive with much more enthusiasm for learning and exploring.
