Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This could be the year that the magic happens and they fall in love with mathematics and technology software as we integrate an interactive math station so they can explore mathematical games using the interactive mode. They have a thirst for knowledge and love different math challenges.
The school community plays an important role by providing 2 iPads for the whole class for educational resources which encourages all students to want to go and play the math games.
As a STEM school, we serve students of all abilities ranging from special education to gifted and talented.
My Project
Having two more available iPads in our classroom will allow my curious learners to develop their technology skills. This will provide my students with a powerful tool that will help bring out their inquisitive and curious personalities. Most importantly, my students will be given the opportunity to be more knowledgable and familiar with technology integration. Being a STEM based school it is highly important that my students are familiar with growing technology trends.
My learners are digital natives who interpret and develop technology skills with much ease.
Their visual-spatial skills seem to be well developed because of their experience with video games, and the abundance of technology they are growing up with. They learn better through discovery than simply being told information. They are curious and are always in search for answers. The Interactive Math Station will give them the opportunity to interact with math at a higher learning level.
This will allow more opportunities to embrace new and emerging math programs both in small group settings and whole group.
Programs like ST Math and Dream Box are the most popular right now. In the future I would like to integrate QR codes and kahoot. The ability to have more exposure to technology will impact my student's future because many do not have access to technology at home. By building their math knowledge foundation early on we are able to cement their futures as mathematicians.s
