Interactive Math Realized!

Help me give my students and Math teachers the necessary interactive tool to fully utilize the newly adopted district curriculum. As a department, we currently lack the necessary interactive technology to maximize student engagement and learning opportunities.

My Project

The math department at our school currently uses wall-mounted projectors. Our school district recently adopted a new math curriculum - Desmos, which requires teachers to use interactive digital activities with touchscreen capability. Students' learning experiences will greatly depend on their ability to touch and manipulate shapes in programmed lessons. The funds from this project will be used to purchase Promethean Boards for each teacher in the math department to support ALL students on campus. In addition, the touchscreen-enabled Promethean Board will allow students to engage in the mathematics of the Desmos curriculum as designed.

Promethean Boards will be used to elicit student thinking and promote academic discourse by enabling students to show their work, collaborate with peers, and facilitate class discussions.

Because students are sharing their thinking from Desmos lessons, they are also strengthening their explanation skills! It's as if the classroom has 35 additional teachers sharing and learning! Think about the robust discussions students will have! Desmos assumes classroom teachers will have access to this type of technology - without this type of technology, it will be a challenge to support our students in reaching their full potential mathematically.
