My students need hands-on math materials that includes engaging activities, visual and concrete workstations to allow them to grasp the math concepts needed to build a good foundation for the rest of their academic career.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My kindergartners always walk in with a smile on their faces ready to learn. They always strive for academic readiness no matter what the situation is. My students come from a very low socio-economic area, with very little resources to engage them in learning. I want them to leave my classroom motivated and excited about learning, so they can carry that with them forever.Your support and generosity is greatly appreciated.
The students that make up my classroom are 99% low income and at risk for dropping out before finishing high-school.
My Project
All students need an engaging learning environment with concrete materials to manipulate and explore during math time.
Math workstations are particularly important because students are engaged in visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning.
The materials that I'm requesting are going to benefit my student during math workstations. The math workstations offer children the opportunity to explore freely from a variety of learning experiences. It also allows them some time to relax and enjoy learning with peers. Additionally, work stations allow for choice; this choice allows children to work at their own instructional level.
These resources are going to benefit my student’s ability to reach that level of mastery for mathematics. These materials are one to one correspondences manipulatives that will help the students do lots of hands on activities like patterns and learning how to add and subtract. I also requested 2D and 3D shapes manipulatives and puzzles to have visuals for the visual learners. This will help them have a visual to identify the vertices and vertex. The Early Math Folder Game Libraries folders are going to help my students how to use non-standard measurement and how to use ten frames when adding a problem solving. They will also learn through the investigation, discovery, exploration, and application of all of the materials. The students will be engaged in differentiated activities everyday.
