This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The more interactive an activity is, the more my kindergarten students get out of it. Interactive math games will allow my students to learn in a very hands-on way. I hope to bring this technology to my classroom so that my students can learn in a more fun and engaging way.
My students approach life with the enthusiasm and curiosity that all five-year-old children seem to have in abundance.
Despite living in a low socioeconomic area where their parents struggle to make ends meet, they are incredibly hopeful and looking forward to the future. My students' parents want the best education possible for them but due to financial constraints, many cannot afford to have books, puzzles or other educational toys at home. It is up to me and the school to provide these wonderful, amazing, eager and bright kids with a wide variety of learning tools.
We are a Title 1 school, which means that we do get funds to improve the academic achievement of the disadvantaged, but not enough to provide every classroom with all the "extras" that they need. In fact due to all the budget cuts, we are running very low on essential supplies such as pencils, crayons, scissors, erasers, and even multipurpose paper. Please help us get interactive math games for our classroom.
My Project
I would like for my students to learn and review math concepts using interactive whiteboard games. Interactive white board games are very hands-on and engaging for students. These games review concepts and skills including number recognition, number sequencing, addition and subtraction, patterning, sorting, telling time and counting money. My students can use these games on the interactive whiteboard as well as on the computer. My students can use the games to keep track of their progress or to play against another classmate to sharpen their skills. I can even use the games as an informal assessment tool to see what my students are able to do or what they need more help with.
Interactive whiteboards games reach all kinds of students with multiple learning styles- auditory, kinesthetic and visual.
Interactive math games will allow me to offer new and exciting learning experiences to my class and help me meet the needs of all my students. My ultimate goal is that my students become proficient in math.
