This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Did you ever get asked a question and not have the words to answer?
I teach at a special school in a public school system in Kentucky for students ages 5-21.
Many of my students have significant cognitive struggles, and many are students with autism. They are eager to please but often do not have the ability to express themselves.
My Project
These storytelling kits have books, cloth characters and props that will give my students the tools to retell the story. Additionally, these materials will allow my students to interact as I am reading and answer comprehension questions using the storytelling materials.
Giving my students the materials they need to successfully participate in class will empower them to show me what I believe that they know!
