My students need two tablets to help improve literacy and mathematics skills during our center time.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. W.'s classroom raised $511

My Students
Literacy and math centers help students learn at their own pace and with 25 students, it is important they have opportunities that allow them to do so. Along with the opportunity to work independently, I want my students to be technologically savvy.
My 1st graders are eager and excited to learn.
They attend a school in an urban area, with a high crime rate and many come from low economic backgrounds, but they don't let societal ills affect them, as someone older may. They are young, energetic, and full of promise.
While I try to ensure my classroom is a great learning environment on a daily basis, my students enter the classroom at a disadvantage. Many of them do not have Internet access at home and rely solely on computer use at school. Therefore, it is important that they have the use of tablets to help get them on track and in the race.
My Project
On a daily basis I am tasked with ensuring my students learn the essentials and in doing so, I incorporate centers. Having the use of tablets in the classroom will allow my students to use apps that will enhance what they are learning, while allowing me to work with small groups and not worry that other students are loosing vital learning minutes while working independently.
I will be able to track student progress and create student specific learning plans with some of the many educational apps available. Students will be able to not only learn mathematical practices and literacy foundations, but they will be able to improve upon and expand the learning which occurs during whole group instruction.
By the end of First Grade, I want my students to be at or above grade level in both reading and math.
With the help of people who care about education, I will be able to achieve that.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
